Reflective Supervision
An introduction
As an Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor (IMH-E®), I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to support professionals working with babies, toddlers, preschoolers and families.
With a background in child-psychology, couples and family therapy, and specialized training in infant and early childhood mental health, I have years of hands-on experience in education and therapy settings, directly engaging with young children and their caregivers.
I provide reflective supervision that meets the endorsement criteria for infant and early childhood mental health practitioners through the Colorado Association for Infant Mental Health (COAIMH), which is affiliated with the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health.

What is Reflective Supervision?
Reflective supervision provides a structured space to explore experiences and interactions in one’s work with young children and families.
It’s a collaborative process where practitioners discuss challenges and emotions with a consultant, promoting self-awareness and professional growth.
They reflect on their interventions, responses, and the impact of their work on the well-being of infants and young children. Providers seeking endorsement in infant or early childhood mental health use reflective supervision to deepen their understanding of early relational dynamics and improve interventions for better client outcomes.
It also enhances their ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to support healthy development and strengthen parent-child relationships.
Through reflective consultation, professionals gain insights into the complex interplay of biological, psychological, and environmental factors shaping early development. This reflective process informs their clinical practice, leading to more effective interventions, improved outcomes, and ultimately, healthier outcomes for young children and their families.
Reflective supervision boosts job satisfaction, reduces burnout, and enhances client outcomes by promoting professional growth, stress reduction, and ethical practice, supported by empirical evidence.
